Products Team (MPT), Shipboard Effectors Department is seeking a
Principal Mechanical Engineer for our Louisville KY site in both
development and production support across multiple programs. This
Principal Mechanical Engineering position performs in alignment to
expectations in the design, development and production support
areas associated with mechanical designs, validation principals,
qualification processes, procurement, and production processes
across a design life cycle. Development work may include
requirements understanding, concept development, DFMAs, PFMAs,
margin analysis, technical data package (TDP) development,
application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principals,
engineering test principals, preparation of technical analysis
reports, and presentations in design reviews. This position is in
on-site and located in Louisville, KY. What You Will Do: Creation
and maintenance of detailed engineering documentation Be seen as a
Subject Matter Expert for Mechanical Design issues providing
mentorship, development and review of lower-level Engineer’s work.
Strong collaboration and communication skills to work cross
functionally with multiple stakeholders to gain alignment.
Developing technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems
related to the entire product life cycle including design,
production, integration and test and design solutions for multiple
systems. Meet cost, schedule, quality, and performance requirements
for the finished product. Coordinate with other disciplines in the
development of design verification test plans, qualification test
plans, and producible designed Occasional travel to suppliers may
be required to resolve production issues, technical performance
issues or attend critical program engineering reviews.
Qualifications You Must Have: Typically requires a degree in
Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a
minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or An Advanced
Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience. 8 years
of professional experience in mechanical design or related industry
Experience with CAD solid modeling tools and analysis tools
Experience with applying and interpreting GD&T Ability to
obtain and maintain active U.S. government issued security
clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are
eligible for a security clearance. Qualifications We Prefer:
Leadership experience with small teams (4-6 people) Supplier
interaction and supplier management experience Ability to
collaborate in teams or independently. Experience in managing or
mentorship of lower-level Engineers Experience in mechanical
sub-systems packaging, materials, thermal, structural analysis,
energetics principals, control systems, interconnect, airframe, or
large assembly development Knowledge of Agile hardware development

role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a
good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX
