UniversityJob DescriptionFounded in 1845 and affiliated with the
Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), Wittenberg
University invites nominations and applications for its Vice
President for Advancement and Alumni Engagement ("VPAAE"). This
individual will be the University's chief strategist and advisor to
the president regarding alumni engagement, donor cultivation, and
stewardship, including designing and executing comprehensive and
targeted campaigns to support Wittenberg's strategic priorities.
The VPAAE will uphold the highest standards of excellence and
integrity, advancing Wittenberg's mission and values.The VPAAE will
report to Wittenberg's next president (beginning July 2025) and
serve as a member of the president's Senior Staff, setting
priorities and strategies for university-wide objectives within and
outside the Office of Advancement and Alumni Engagement. They will
develop partnerships across faculty, staff, alumni, families, and
friends, leading an advancement and alumni relations program. When
fully staffed, the VPAAE will oversee ten staff members across
alumni engagement, philanthropy, major planned giving, alumni
relations for affinity and student groups, regional programming,
and donor relations.ResponsibilitiesThe VPAAE will collaboratively
develop funding and engagement priorities with the president,
Senior Staff, and Board of Directors. They will foster a culture of
philanthropy, personally pursue principal and major gifts, and
orchestrate participation in cultivation and stewardship of donors.
They will develop innovative engagement strategies to broaden
alumni impact, deepen connections with the university community,
and involve faculty, staff, coaches, and students in the division's
work.QualificationsKey qualifications include the ability to
develop and execute an aspirational philanthropic vision at a
similarly sized institution, experience implementing data-driven
goals, and a track record of recruiting and mentoring staff. A
minimum of a bachelor's degree is required. Experience in higher
education is not mandatory but preferred, especially in complex
environments and with a commitment to academic values.How to
