From laser-assisted surgery, ultrasound, digital x-ray, to a full in-network lab for quick results - we have everything needed to care for your pet.INTRODUCTIONThe goal of this position is to work with our team of veterinarians and technicians to physically provide excellent care and treatments for patients in line with veterinarians treatment orders and clinic guidelines.Kennel Attendants report directly to the Rooms Technician each day while the position is overseen by the Technician Manager. Incumbents of this position are required to assist the rooms technician to the fullest possible extent, to help improve the quality of care given to the patients of Noah's Ark Animal Clinics and to aid the veterinarians in achieving greater efficiency by relieving them of technical work.MAJOR DUTIESProvide restraint of pets for examination and treatment by the veterinarian or other technicians.Proper documentation of information on hospital forms, travel sheets, radiographs, laboratorymaterials, etc.Assist kennel personnel (Rooms Technician) in keeping patients clean and dry at all times. Ensuring that all patients are clean, comfortable and well kept is the responsibility of the entire healthcare team, especially the technical departments.Help placers and back staff to make sure that all surgery check in's have TPR's completed and blood work drawn the night prior to surgery. Bring the patient to a free technician or veterinarian for assistance.Assist the surgical staff in making sure that patients are warm post-operatively and are placed into a cage in the appropriate room when their temperature is above 98 degrees fahrenheit.Feed and water animals at scheduled times notated by DVM. If NPO is noted, DO NOT FEED.Walk dogs when noted or approved by a veterinarian.Ensure all cages are cleaned and sanitized properly.Spray and wipe all surfaces of the cage using the Peroxide Multi Surface Cleaner and Disinfectant along with disposable paper towels. DO NOT reuse rags or water (in bucket)Once all debris and organic material are removed, spray all surfaces generously with the same cleaner and let this sit for 5 minutes.After 5 minutes, spray all surfaces again with the same cleaner and wipe thoroughly with disposable paper towels.Assist the kennel personnel (Rooms Technician) in cleaning boxes and bowls. Make sure that each dish is thoroughly scrubbed with a clean sponge, dawn dish soap, and warm water.Help to make sure that laundry is being done throughout the day.The drum of the washer should never be more than half-way full.Washer should be set on Heavy Duty or Bulky Sheets and Bedding with 1 Rinse using hot water.Job Description TechUse the right-hand button on the soap dispenser above the washing machine.Dryer should be set on high heat.CONTROLS OVER WORKThe supervising practitioners (Rooms Technician, Technician Supervisors, Technician Manager, and Veterinarians) provide continuing or individual assignments indicating generally what is to be done, limitations, quality and quantity expected, deadlines and priority of assignments. The practitioners provide additional, specific instructions for new, difficult or unusual assignments in animal health care, including suggested work methods or advice on source materials available. The Veterinary Technician uses initiative in carrying out recurring assignments independently without specific instructions, but refers deviations, problems, and unfamiliar situations not covered by instructions to the practitioner for decision or help. The supervising practitioners assure that finished work and methods used are technically accurate and in compliance with instructions or established procedures. Review of the work increases with more difficult assignments, if the technician has not previously performed similar assignments. Administrative supervision may be provided by the Technician Manager, Clinic Manager, or Medical Director.OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTSSkill and Knowledge:Knowledge of commonly used medical abbreviations and how to transfer them into layman's terms for the clients.Knowledge of proper cleaning and sanitization protocols for cages, dishes, and laundry.PHYSICAL EFFORTThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to bend, stand, stoop, walk, sit, talk, and listen; may be required to walkor stand for long periods of time; will use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel; will reach with hands and arms. The employee is often required to lift and carry animals weighing fifty pounds or more; handle dogs weighing upto 150 lbs.WORK ENVIRONMENTWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to hazards associated with aggressive patients; hazards associated withinfected animals and controlled substances; exposure to unpleasant odors and noises; exposure to bites, scratches and animal wastes; possible exposure to contagious diseases.Join our team of animal lovers.
