Job Title: Critical Care Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Ohio RN License Certifications: ACLS & BLS Must-Have: - Recent LTACH, trach & vent experience - Certifications must be attached to submission Description: Critical care registered nurses provide care for patients who have suffered severe medical issues. Duties include assessing patient conditions and planning care plans. They treat wounds and provide advanced life support. Assisting physicians in performing procedures is part of their responsibilities. They observe and record patient vital signs. Critical care nurses ensure that medical equipment functions properly. They administer intravenous fluids and medications. Suctioning is also part of their duties. Collaboration with fellow members of the critical care team is essential. They respond to life-saving situations using nursing standards and protocols. Acting as patient advocates is a key responsibility. Providing education and support to patient families is important. Critical care nurses may also care for pre- and post-operative patients. Some serve as case managers and policy makers. Administrative duties may also be part of their role.
