Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN General, Dialysis, Mental Health) Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Staff Augmentation Duration: 52 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience required License: Current licensure as a registered professional nurse in the state of Ohio Certifications: CPR certification preferred Must-Have: Must have clear bags. Must pass through a metal detector. No silverware allowed, including coffee mugs and tumblers. Description: Provides professional nursing care to patients in a correctional facility. Observes, assesses, and records symptoms, reactions, and progress of patients. Conducts nursing rounds and takes and records vital signs. Prepares and administers prescribed medications and treatment plans. Monitors patients who are restrained, providing immediate medical attention as necessary. Counsels patients regarding the need for medical referrals. Schedules, assigns, and reviews work of lower-level staff as assigned. Participates in staff development and education. Reviews care plans written by staff and trains or orients new employees. Responsible for the health care of bedridden patients, including making rounds. Evaluates care needed and rendered, and administers medication as required. Performs specialized nursing procedures including IV therapy, wound care, and catheterization. Organizes and oversees emergency response teams as needed. Acts as lead worker in charge during assigned shifts. Assists physicians in giving diagnostic health evaluations. Performs clerical tasks including charting and documenting medical information. Orders supplies and maintains inventory of medications and equipment. Arranges for outpatient clinic appointments and medical examinations. Performs administrative tasks and serves as a liaison with other organizations. Conducts and attends meetings as required. Serves as an instructor or leader of problem-solving teams when necessary. MAJOR WORKER CHARACTERISTICS: Knowledge of professional registered nursing procedures, regulations, and policies. Skill in the operation of medical equipment. Ability to manage abstract and concrete variables, write meaningful reports, and gather information effectively.
