Post-operative open heart care experience, Critical Care Experience
is highly preferred License: Active RN License Certifications:
Active American Heart Association BLS, Active American Heart
Association ACLS Must-Have: Chest tube and other drain management
experience Pre- and post-procedure care for patients with radial
and femoral access Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, including
reading and interpreting cardiac rhythm strips, recognizing and
responding to changes in cardiac rhythms Advanced knowledge of
cardiac and pulmonary abnormalities Experience with procedures and
equipment including assisting with chest tube removal, assisting
with removal of pericardial pacing wires, management of temporary
pacers, including pericardial and transcutaneous devices, use and
troubleshooting of non-invasive ventilation (NIV) devices,
high-flow oxygen, and other oxygen delivery systems Must float to
all units within skill level Description: The Registered Nurse
assumes responsibility and accountability for the care of assigned
patients during their shift. Responsibilities include assessing,
planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care using
age-specific criteria. Judgments are made based on scientific
knowledge and clinical skills. The RN also assists in planning,
directing, and teaching non-RN staff such as LPNs and PCTs.
