Responsibilities of the Telecom Technician:

• Help install, program, test, and maintain various types of telecommunications equipment and systems
• Support CISCO/Nortel fiber optics, microwave, telephone systems, and associated physical infrastructure
• Communicate project status to management and any problems
• Help with real-time analysis to ensure installed equipment meets requirements
• Make real-time adjustments to conceptual and tactical designs based on existing status
  Requirements of the Telecom Technician:
  
  • Associate's degree in Electronics or associated technical degree
  • At least 8 years of experience in the installation/maintenance of telecommunication networks and equipment
  • Understanding of data, fiber optics, microwave, wireless, and voice networks and proven ability to maintain and install these systems and associated equipment
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and steps in various types of facilities
  • Experience in heavy construction areas: power plant and substation construction projects
  • Experience working on low-voltage AC and high-voltage DC power equipment
  • Experience working in highly energized switch yards, distribution lines, transmission towers, and transmission lines
  • Proven troubleshooting skills, ability to use various telecommunications test equipment
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills
  • Motivated self-starter; able to work independently
  • Valid driver's license
