The Technical Manager is a highly experienced Pressure Sensitive and Blown In-Mold label expert and the primary technical contact for targeted customers with responsibility for identifying and developing new opportunities. Lead/support product development initiatives and support internal efficiency improvements which positively impact MCC’s value added proposition with customers and reduce production costs. Collaborate with Marketing and Sales to plan and execute development of identified new products. Lead and support identified product development initiatives including both business development and research projects. Lead the development and qualification of label constructions supporting new business, procurement, and supply chain activities in various MCC production plants. Conduct laboratory and production trials proving out label constructions meeting internal and Customer requirements. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure trial and onboarding success of qualification trials. This includes Manufacturing, Pre-press, Quality, Customer Service, Ink room, Field Technical Service and Customer Service team members. Assist and support plant cost and efficiency improvements through the design of trials and experiments, conducting trials and experiments and laboratory evaluations. Administrative responsibilities include updating the technical project database regarding status and due date of projects, write trial outlines and work with the MCC production plants to execute, provide trial data summaries to Customers, attend Customer meetings regarding new projects and participate in monthly project updates with senior Sales leadership and Technical team. Qualifications: A proven working knowledge of any of the following is required to perform the duties of the role: Pressure Sensitive label constructions, Blown-In Mold label constructions, UV Flexo printing, Litho printing, knowledge of UV Flexo/Litho inks, coatings and adhesives, Demonstrated ability to lead effectively lead project with both internal and customer stakeholders. Four-year college degree: or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 4-6 years of experience in a similar role, and/or have 4-6 years of technical experience in the manufacturing of prime labels. Knowledgeable in container types and printing/converting materials and technologies related to package decoration. Mechanical aptitude and basic math skills are essential. Other considerations: Position requires travel for both internal and customer visits and trial. Travel up to 20% required, often at last minute, and sometimes on weekends, as well as international travel. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Occasional lifting of cartons weighing up to 40-45 lbs may be necessary.
