Job Description:
Title: Physical Therapist Assistant Shift: Part Time, Days This
position will be scheduled approximately 12 hours per week and will
be located at 1955 Dixie Hwy., Ft. Wright, KY 41011. Job Overview:
Implement physical therapy treatment plans as designed by the
physical therapist to restore function, prevent disability, reduce
pain, and return the patient to his/her maximum function. Follow
The Christ Hospital and department approved policies related to
documentation, attendance, education, etc. Show respect and
courtesy to all staff, patients, and visitors Job Responsibilities
of a Physical Therapy Assistant include: Treatment: + Implements
the treatment plan in collaboration with the treatment team to
include exercise programs designed by the licensed physical
therapist. + Re-measures and documents objective findings, per
department policy, minimum of every fourth visit. + Records Pain
Analogue Score every visit. + Supervises patient workouts on
strengthening and cardiovascular equipment and notes response to
treatment and/or changes in status. + Adheres to department safety
standards and completes incident report when indicated. + Develops
appropriate treatment programs with the physical therapists
approval to progress toward goals and progresses programs
appropriately. Documents progression appropriately. + Counsels
patients and families regarding proper body mechanics, and home
exercises, and documents appropriately in notes and/or
patient-family education record. + Utilizes updated treatment
techniques as evidenced by continuing education record/peer review.
+ Aware of and accommodating to walk-ins throughout the day.
Communication: + Appropriate verbal/written communication with the
physical therapist and other health care providers regarding
patient treatment including the response to treatment, inquiries
about the application of procedures, changes in program, and use of
various equipment. + Consults with physical therapist when patient
is not progressing appropriately and documents revised treatment
plan or discharge of patient to Home Exercise Program in
collaboration with physical therapist. Documentation: + Meets
documentation benchmark of 90% on audits for department and 95% or
greater for Medicare requirements. + Completes ALL patient related
documentation, including encounter forms, accurately and in a
timely manner. + Handwriting is neat and legible. Uses approved
abbreviations per chart audits. + Complies with all The Christ
Hospital, department and regulatory standards and guidelines. +
Documents progression of exercise program as approved by physical
therapist on flowsheet including resistance, repetitions, time and
position and indicates skilled care. Professional Development: +
Participates on performance improvement initiatives by fully
assisting in the collection of data i.e., satisfaction
surveys/outcome surveys or measures, and as assigned. + Able to
articulate outcomes and improvements for department and
organization. + Participates in educational
in-services/opportunities to advance clinical
knowledge/competencies per educational record. + Maintains positive
working atmosphere and professional image per peer and manager
review. + Completes mandatory education per The Christ
Hospital/department/state requirements and maintains educational
record. + Active participation in mentoring of fellow employees and
orientation of new employees and interns as indicated. +
Participates in community service activities associated with the
department and organization, such as screenings and community
lectures. + Participates in PT and PTA intern clinical programs and
assists in providing a learning atmosphere for interns.
Productivity/Department Management: + Clinician attains
productivity benchmark as established at beginning of fiscal year.
+ Demonstrate good time management skills by making productive use
of downtime: + Documentation is complete and up-to-date. + Involved
in maintaining adequate inventory of supplies. + Proactive with
cleaning and organization of clinic and staff office as noted on
cleaning logs. + Notifies clinical engineering or other appropriate
personnel for maintenance and repair of equipment. + Makes
marketing visits to area physicians and maintains marketing log. +
Demonstrates understanding of the revenue cycle as it pertains to
clinicians by accurate and timely completion of encounter forms,
copying and including treatment notes for BWC and MVA encounters. +
Completes clerical requests for additional information in a timely
manner. + Uses The Christ Hospital information services
appropriately. + Promotes a positive atmosphere as evidenced by
peer reviews. Education : Associate Degree, Major in Physical
Therapist Assistant. Licenses & Certifications: Licensed by the
State of Ohio, CPR certified. Experience: Prefer one year of
outpatient experience, will consider new graduate. Required Skills
& Knowledge: Personable, good communication skills, good manual
skills.
