ASSOCIATE'S ABILITY TO WORK REMOTELY. The Governance and Proxy
(GAP) Analyst, as a member of the ESG team, is responsible for
conducting in-depth proxy research culminating in proxy voting
recommendations to the Investment Group and participating in
engagements with portfolio companies on stewardship priorities. The
associate in this role demonstrates a moderate to in-depth
knowledge of Capital Group---s proxy voting guidelines and is a
resource in their ongoing maintenance. To increase their
capabilities assists more senior associates, Analysts/PMs and the
ESG team as needed in conducting assigned sector and industry
specific research in support of investment frameworks and case
studies to determine best practices and standards. Displays a
developing understanding of the proxy voting and engagement cycle
and may attend industry events on behalf of Capital Group as a
development opportunity. May development training materials in
areas of proficiency and participate in the training of associates
on these topics. The associate in this role works independently on
most assignments and under the direction of more senior staff only
on the most complex projects, analyses and tasks. PRIMARY
RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Demonstrates familiarity
with key governance topics while building an increasing depth of
knowledge, and a sound understanding of the responsibilities of the
GAP team - Conducts research with increasingly deep analysis on
various proxy related proposals and applies proxy voting guidelines
with good judgement and increasing independence across a broad
range of governance, environmental and social topics in order to
author vote recommendations. Utilizes effective judgement when
elevating proxy votes for Analyst review - May assist in standalone
research efforts based on internal requests - Displays an effective
understanding of key topics and considerations affecting specific
sectors and broad regional expertise in order to develop voting
recommendations with good judgement and increasing independence -
Escalates sector and company trends in a timely manner to senior
members of the team, and to the attention of more senior GAP team
members for further analysis of possible guideline impact - Builds
credibility with Analysts as relationships develop over time that
attracts investor engagement and value-add participation in the
proxy voting process - Brings developing sector and company
expertise as a participant alongside more senior members of the
team in engagement with portfolio companies, including partnering
with the ESG team and/or Analysts to establish agendas and drive
Capital Group priorities around stewardship practices - May
participate in developing training materials around specific topics
that increase the team---s knowledge base, and consistently shares
articles and notes from webcasts and industry events with the team
- Participates in projects with key stakeholders; projects may
include research efforts on governance topics in support of
Investment Group requests, ESG needs and other relevant matters.
Assists in technology development, design, testing, and ongoing
support - Seeks to build relationships, credibility and knowledge
with key internal and external stakeholders. Attends calls and
webcasts with key internal parties and industry working groups/key
third parties to build familiarity and fill knowledge gaps -
Provides ongoing feedback (both positive and constructive) to
leadership on team needs and opportunities - Participates, and may
occasionally lead, team training opportunities; drives personal
development to fill knowledge gaps - Shows a developing
understanding of team policies, procedures and controls and
suggests enhancements where necessary BUSINESS & TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Demonstrates ability to be self-driven to understand how and why
things work, the financial - industry and/or the connections
between processes and technology. - Ability to learn and apply to
their daily work various systems and research resources -

Proxy functions, Capital Group---s Proxy Voting Guidelines,
policies, procedures and systems - Demonstrates effective written
and oral communication skills with a diverse group of associates,
senior business leaders, the Investment Group and portfolio
