life-changing treatments. We are seeking a strategic, experienced,
and patient focused leader with an enterprise-mindset to lead and
direct uniQure’s comprehensive Global Market Access department. In
this role, you will be instrumental in shaping U.S. and global
market access and pricing strategies, oversight of patient services
and distribution, and value narratives for highly innovative
product(s) in the rare disease space, across diverse payer
landscapes. This mission-critical role will be instrumental in
ensuring timely and optimal access for patients. The individual in
this position will report to the Chief Customer & Strategy Officer
and will serve as a member of their core leadership team. As the
SVP, Market Access, you will collaborate cross-functionally to
influence long-term growth, patient impact, and company valuation.
Key result areas (major duties, accountabilities and
responsibilities) Market Access Strategy & Leadership • Build and
establish a best-in-class Global Market Access function with an
immediate focus on US Reimbursement, Patient Services, Field Teams,
and Distribution. • Design and lead comprehensive market access
strategies including pricing, payer engagement, value-based
contracting, and reimbursement support tailored to rare and
ultra-rare disease indications • Lead the development of the value
propositions and ensure appropriate health economic models are in
place to support. • Ensure alignment of market access strategies
with overall commercial and corporate objectives. Payer & Channel
Engagement • Build and maintain strong relationships with public
and private payers, PBMs, specialty pharmacies, and integrated
delivery networks. • Oversee and participate in payer negotiations
to secure favorable formulary access and coverage decisions. •
Collaborate with the field reimbursement team to identify and
resolve patient access barriers. • Oversee trade and distribution
of product(s). Cross-Functional Leadership • Partner closely with
internal functions such as Medical Affairs, Commercial, Regulatory,
and Supply Chain to develop aligned strategies that address
clinical, economic, and patient value. • Contribute to launch
readiness and life-cycle planning for current and future assets. •
Lead the development of core value dossiers, AMCP dossiers, and
other tools that support access discussions. Evidence Generation &
Policy Advocacy • Collaborate with HEOR and clinical teams to
define and execute evidence generation plans, including real-world
evidence and outcomes research relevant to rare diseases. • Ensure
clinical development programs generate the right evidence needed
for payer/HTA evaluations (study designs, endpoints, etc.). •
Monitor and influence policy developments affecting rare/orphan
drug access, including engagement with CMS, advocacy groups, and
relevant coalitions. Leadership • Hire and support team leaders to
further build out the function strategically to initially cover the
U.S. market, including field reimbursement and patient services. •
Develop and coach team members to build a world class team that
embodies a cross-functional “one uniQure” mindset. Qualifications &
Skills • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Pharmacy,
Health Economics, Public Health, Life Sciences, or Business
strongly preferred (e.g., PharmD, PhD, MBA). • 15 years of
progressive experience in market access roles within the
biopharmaceutical industry, with at least 10 years in leadership
positions. • Demonstrated success launching first-to-market
innovative therapies for rare diseases in the U.S. and multiple
international markets. • Gene therapy launch experience is highly
desirable. • Experienced in the development and implementation of
global market access strategies. • Deep understanding of global
payer systems and HTA processes. • Experience designing and
implementing global pricing strategy, including value-based
pricing, launch sequencing, and reference pricing mitigation. •
Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence executive
leadership in a dynamic, lean, early-stage company. • Prior
experience with Ex-U.S. and U.S. legislation and public policies
that impact global and regional decisions. • Significant experience
working with external vendors, consultants, and access agencies to
develop payer research, modelling, and dossier development. •
Strong executive presence, with the ability to clearly articulate
complex value stories to both internal and external stakeholders. •
Track record of building or scaling global market access functions
in a pre-commercial or newly commercial biotech company.
